Well sought after lead guitarist JD McGibney in LA recently took the time to do a Q&A session with TDL. He is one musician that you don’t want to miss.
Tell Us Who You Are Playing With Right Now.
I’ve been playing in Angels on the Battlefield for about two years, now. I’m really new to Stryfe; I’ve only been in the band about a month.
What Projects Are You Working On Now?
At the moment there are a few different projects on the table with AOTB: Writing some new tunes, working on a few upcoming video projects, some line up changes, and getting used to Los Angeles (the project originated in New York)! Stryfe is finishing up their Debut EP, and a music video is in the works for the single “Speak to Dream.”
Tell Us How You Got Into Music.
My story is a pretty basic one, actually. I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. My father was a police officer in Nassau County for twenty years and my mother was a stay at home mom who raised me and my three brothers. No one in my house was super big into music, so I didn’t really get into music until High School. I picked up the guitar when I was 14 and haven’t put it down since that concert in 2004! I finally moved to Los Angeles about a year ago (February, 2014).
My first deep connection with music was at my first concert. A friend of mine convinced me to go to Ozzfest back in 2004. At the time, my favorite band was Black Sabbath, and they were headlining that year, so OBVIOUSLY I had to go and see them! My friend and I got to The venue at 9AM and we stayed until Sabbath ended at 11PM. The entire day was a rush of metal, and an intensity that I had never felt before! It was at the end of that concert that I became addicted to heavy metal and performing live music. The entire experience was epic.
Where Can We See You Play Next?
